Housing policy
Stratford-on-Avon District Council’s Core Strategy is the local planning policy for the period 2011 – 2031 for Stratford District. In the Core Strategy, Welford on Avon village is identified as a category 2 Local Service Village (LSV). The Core Strategy identifies four categories of LSV and specifies the following housing requirement for category 2 (CS.15):
Category 2 – approximately 700 homes in total, of which no more than around 12% should be provided in any individual settlement
Ten category 2 LSVs are in Stratford District. Therefore the 20-year housing requirement for each category 2 village is 70 homes, with no more than 84 in each one.
To partner SDC’s Core Strategy, Welford on Avon parish adopted a Neighbourhood Development Plan in March 2017. The two documents together define local planning policy. Having adopted a Neighbourhood Development Plan, Welford on Avon Parish is entitled to 25% of the Community Infrastructure Levy payments from development within the parish.
