Latest update from Daren Pemberton County Councillor –
I now have confirmation that the works will NOT commence September 1st , EA permissions are still not in but expected week commencing August 21st The most likely start date is now September 15th This of course puts the completion date back. The original dates for each sequence of the works does not now apply. I expect to have an updated sequencing plan, using a September 15th start, by the end of next week and will share with you all. It is intended to keep foot and bicycle access across the bridge open throughout the work. It is still envisaged that there will be a downtime period over the Christmas holiday where vehicle access is allowed.
There is signage already in place which, of course, talks of an August start and March completion. This signage will remain as it reminds road users that substantial works are about to commence. The signs will be updated closer to the start date. This is a better solution that taking them down for a couple of weeks.
I will let you all have a further update when I have the revised works schedule.
